Santa Barbara Zoo May 2007

What a wonderful day at the zoo it was. Good company, good home brought food and great weather. Our day started off early. We took the Amtrak train to our destination. The girl were so excited. The only kink was that we choose a day that shared the Strawberry festival so the train ride going for the first 1/2 hr was packed. After our stop in Oxnard where the majority got off it was smooth sailing. The views were gorgeous. I only wish I took more pictures from the train. The kids were very active on the train and I'm glad the other passengers were not to disturbed by their heighten activity. I learned that both my girls at this early age can keep balance very well. Maybe someday they will want to surf and have more fun with this new found balancing act. We arrived in Santa Barbara with optimism. The weather was great. Overcast but surprisingly warm. We then strolled down to Cabrillo Blvd./Ocean way to take the 25cent trolly ride to the zoo. Now this zoo is not like any other I have visited. The exhibits and caged areas were so close to each other. Not in a bad way but in a way where you can see a lot for the amount of time your there. We saw an array of animals I think the favorites were the giraffes and small-clawed Asian otters. We also enjoyed lunch on a grassy area which to the west over looked the ocean. All in all this day was wonderful. We then strolled back to the trolley to head back to the train station where we would then reload the kiddies back on the train. Our ride back was much more roomy since we were ahead of the crowds to come. Hope you all enjoy the pictures. The popicks
